AI article writer inside Surfer's Content Editor that drafts long-form SEO articles from a keyword, sold only with a Surfer subscription
Fast-read signals for fit, pricing, and trust.
SEO writers, agencies and site owners who already work in Surfer, or will pay for it, get a first draft that starts from search-results analysis instead of a blank prompt. Budget for a whole Surfer plan, since there is no standalone Surfer AI plan. Article length cannot be set directly, and Surfer's help centre and terms describe access to stored work after a plan expires differently, so keep your own copies of anything you need.
Surfer AI lives inside Surfer: an active Surfer subscription is required, and articles are created from the dashboard, a Sites project or the Content Editor. Article length cannot be set directly. The keyword's numbers are ignored, so '32 business ideas' will not force 32 ideas, and generation works only in a vendor-listed set of languages that includes English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Japanese. The troubleshooting article says a query stalled for more than 45 minutes can be reported for a usage-limit reimbursement and rerun, and that some failures come from problems at the AI model provider.
Prices on the pricing page are per month on yearly billing; billing monthly costs more, and the help centre puts the annual discount at up to 17% (up to $720). Surfer also sells an AI Search Analytics plan for AI-visibility tracking at 82 USD a month billed yearly. Monthly plans are paid by card and yearly plans by card or bank transfer; a yearly plan is charged for the whole year up front, with its limits granted in one batch. Plans renew automatically, cancelling stops the next renewal, upgrades are prorated and immediate, downgrades apply at the next billing date and unused limits do not roll over. The terms say a cancelled prepaid annual subscription is not refundable, though a proportional recalculation can be requested. Billing is available in USD and EUR.
The 7-day Pro trial takes billing details at checkout and converts to a paid plan unless cancelled. What happens to your work when a paid plan expires is stated two ways: the help centre says Content Editors, tracked sites and all other work are completely erased, while the terms of service say the user keeps access to query results from the last three months. Confirm with Surfer before letting a plan lapse.

What you can actually do with this tool.
Surfer AI writes a complete SEO article inside the Content Editor, or from a Topical Map idea, combining third-party generative AI models with Surfer's analysis of the pages that rank.
You review and adjust the outline before generation; the vendor says it can produce up to 30 AI headings per article.
A tone of voice and custom instructions shape the draft, and from Pro up templates and your own Custom Voice can too. Since March 2026 a guided wizard loads brand knowledge and template suggestions before generation.
Drafts land in the Content Editor, where the Surfy writing assistant and Auto-Optimize work on them against Surfer's content guidelines.
The help centre documents a WordPress plugin, a Google Docs extension for the Content Editor, a Contentful integration, the Surfer API (Peace of Mind and Enterprise plans) and an MCP server for AI agents (Pro and above); the pricing page also lists Zapier.

Common questions about this tool, answered.
No. Surfer's help centre says you need an active Surfer subscription to use Surfer AI, and the pricing page sells it as part of the Surfer plans, which start at 49 USD a month on yearly billing.
Yes, for 7 days on the Pro plan, which includes AI writing. Billing details are taken at checkout, and the trial converts automatically to the chosen plan unless it is cancelled.
Around 20 minutes for a long-form draft, according to Surfer's help centre, which also puts the minimum expected length at 2,000 words; length cannot be set directly.
Surfer's own pages disagree. The help centre says stored work is completely erased; the terms of service say query results from the last three months stay accessible. Confirm with Surfer, and keep your own copies.
