What is this tool?

YouTube creators and channel teams who iterate on thumbnails and titles without a designer get generation, editing and scoring in one place. Budget in credits: a thumbnail costs 10-20, annual plans receive the year's credits upfront, and monthly plans ramp up over four months. A free trial is advertised, but neither the pricing page nor the terms state its length or credits; several commenters were asked to pay before they could generate or score a thumbnail, and every purchase is final.

Pikzels works in the browser at app.pikzels.com. Start from a prompt or a YouTube link, optionally apply your Persona and Style, refine the image with text edits, score it and apply the suggested fixes, then generate titles to match. Each action spends credits: 10-20 for a thumbnail, 5 for a score, 1 for a title and 50 to train a Persona or Style. Developers can reach the same functions through the public API. Pikzels LLC, a Delaware company based in San Francisco, runs the service.

Both plans include the same tools and differ in credits and support. Billing is monthly or annual. Annual plans get the year's credits upfront; monthly plans start lower and reach their full allowance in the fourth month, the terms add that actual amounts may vary, and cancelling and re-subscribing restarts that ramp. Credits reset on the renewal date unless the optional Credit Rollover is chosen at checkout, all credits need an active subscription, and extra credits can be bought at any time. Subscriptions are cancelled in the customer portal and stay active, with remaining credits, to the end of the billing cycle. All purchases are final: Pikzels does not refund subscriptions or credit top-ups, and a chargeback leads to immediate account termination.

Under the terms, the thumbnails you create belong to you, and Pikzels embeds metadata marking generated images as AI-generated by Pikzels. Pikzels states its own use of your work two ways: the pricing page says generations remain private and are never used for marketing, while the Terms of Use revised on August 29, 2026 grant Pikzels a worldwide licence to use your projects for marketing, research and development. The privacy policy, last revised October 6, 2024, says personal data is shared with service providers that run or analyse the service, and deletion can be requested at data@pikzels.com.

Is this right for you?

Quick fit check against how you actually work.

Choose this if
  • You make YouTube videos and want thumbnails and titles produced, edited and scored in one tool
  • You want your own face and visual style kept consistent across thumbnails through a trained Persona and Style
  • You can commit to a year, since annual plans receive all their credits upfront
  • You want to automate thumbnail work through an API
Consider alternatives if
  • You need to try the tool properly before paying: the pricing page and terms state neither the free trial's length nor its credits, and several commenters were asked to pay before generating or scoring
  • You need a refund route, since Pikzels treats every subscription and top-up as final
  • You need a firm commitment that your thumbnails are never used in the vendor's marketing; the pricing page and the Terms of Use say different things
  • You need images beyond YouTube thumbnails and titles

What people say

Aggregate community sentiment, summarized — not native reviews.

Mixed signals

Five commenters on three YouTube videos from 2025 say they could not get a free thumbnail or score: four say they were asked to pay or sent to a sales page, and one says the starting credits did not generate anything. Opinion on the output is split. Three commenters on two videos from 2025 say the thumbnails or the Persona they got were poor or unusable, while another commenter, outside that count, says the analyze feature showed exactly what was wrong with a thumbnail and improved their click-through rate. Treat both as experiences to test against your own channel, not as a description of the current free allowance.

Key features

What you can actually do with this tool.

Generate or recreate

Describe a thumbnail in a prompt, or paste a YouTube link to recreate that video's thumbnail format with your own content.

Edit with text instructions

Change an existing thumbnail by describing the edit rather than working in a layer editor.

Score and fix

The Pikzels Score rates a thumbnail and title and offers one-click fixes.

Personas and Styles

Train a Persona from three photos of your face, and a Style, so thumbnails stay consistent. You must own or have consent for any face you use.

Titles and an API

Titles are generated to match the thumbnail. A public API (version 2; version 1 was retired on February 17, 2026) covers creating, editing and scoring thumbnails, titles and personas.

Frequently asked

Common questions about this tool, answered.

Is Pikzels free to try?

The web app offers a free trial and the terms describe starting with free credits before upgrading, but the pricing page, the web app and the terms state neither the trial length nor the number of free credits, and the pricing page lists only paid plans. Several commenters on 2025 videos met a payment step before generating or scoring anything.

How do credits work on monthly and annual billing?

Annual plans get the whole year at once: 18,000 credits on Premium and 54,000 on Ultimate. Monthly plans ramp over four months, from 1,000 to 1,500 a month on Premium and from 3,000 to 4,500 on Ultimate. Credits reset on renewal unless you add Credit Rollover at checkout.

Can I get a refund?

No. Pikzels states that all purchases are final, monthly or yearly, including credit top-ups, and a chargeback ends the account immediately. Cancelling stops renewal and keeps access to the end of the billing cycle.

Who owns the thumbnails, and can Pikzels use them?

You own what you create, under the terms. Whether Pikzels may promote itself with your work depends on which page you read: the pricing page promises your generations stay private and out of its marketing, but the August 2026 Terms of Use license your projects to Pikzels for marketing, research and development. Confirm with Pikzels if that matters to you.
