Fast-read signals for fit, pricing, and trust.
Someone who translates documents every week and would rather have one allowance than separate limits per feature will get the most from Lara, as will a developer who wants the same engine behind an API. The free plan is a real test budget, 60,000 characters a month with no card, and it simply pauses when used up. Pro and Team do the opposite and bill overage automatically.
Translation starts from pasted text or an uploaded document, image or audio file. You choose how literal or fluid the result should be, and can add context to steer it. The web app is available on every plan and the mobile apps start at Pro. Developers reach the same engine through the API, and translators through CAT tools.
Two details in the pricing are easy to misread. The pricing page states overage rates in dollars per 10,000 characters and the help centre in euros per million characters; the two surfaces use different currencies and units, and neither converts one into the other. The plan prices on Lara's pricing page are shown at annual-billing rates by default, charged once a year.

What you can actually do with this tool.
Text, documents, images and audio all spend the same monthly allowance. A month heavy on documents and light on speech balances out, rather than one feature running dry while another sits unused.
API, SDK, MCP and CLI access come with every plan. Free includes 10,000 API characters a month; CAT-tool and API usage is billed at $24.99 per million characters on Pro, $19.99 on Team and by volume on Enterprise.
Available on all plans. Lara states that content translated in Incognito mode is never stored, logged or used for training, which is the setting to know about before uploading anything confidential.
Team is bought as a shared monthly quota, from 1.5 million to 60 million characters, and any number of users can share it. The user ranges Lara prints beside each size are guidance for choosing one, not what you are billed on.

Common questions about this tool, answered.
Test it rather than assume it. In one Reddit discussion in August 2025, three separate users raised support for particular languages or regional variants when weighing Lara. That is one conversation, not a survey, and it is not a list of what Lara supports, but it makes the practical point: coverage has to be checked language by language, and variant by variant. Lara positions the free plan's 60,000 characters as enough to try its features on a few documents, so run your own material through first.
On Free, translation pauses until the next monthly cycle and there is no way to buy more on that plan. On Pro and Team, extra usage is billed automatically, so you are never blocked but you can be charged.
