What is this tool?

For every post, an iPhone user gets a ready group of hashtags from Hashtag Expert, rated to show which tags carry the most posts. The native app is iPhone and iPad only, and the website publishes no price list; the only published prices are in-app purchase items on the US App Store listing.

The app installs from the App Store (iOS 16.0 or later; the listing describes it as designed for iPhone, and it also lists Apple-silicon Macs running macOS 13 or later while flagging that the app has not been confirmed for macOS). On Android and Windows, the FAQ directs users to the Hashtag Expert web app in a desktop or phone browser. Enter a base hashtag or pick a category, generate a group, check its rating, save it to a collection and copy it into the post.

Subscriptions are sold through Apple as an in-app purchase or on the website through Stripe, and are cancelled the way they were bought: in the iPhone or iPad Settings app under Subscriptions, or in Hashtag Expert under Profile, Settings, Membership, Manage Subscription. They are billed in advance and renew automatically, paid fees are non-refundable except where the law requires, though the terms allow certain refund requests to be granted case by case at the company's discretion, and Apple's own refund rules govern App Store purchases.

Is this right for you?

Quick fit check against how you actually work.

Choose this if
  • You post from an iPhone or iPad and want hashtags generated from one starting tag
  • Ratings by post count and saved collections would replace your own hashtag notes
  • You want caption ideas and suggested posting times in the same app
Consider alternatives if
  • You post from Android or Windows and want a native app; the FAQ offers a browser web app there instead
  • You want to see a price list on the website before subscribing; the site publishes none
  • You want a free plan rather than a trial; the FAQ answers 'Is Hashtag Expert free to use?' with the 3-day trial
  • You would rather not have linked Instagram usernames and ids kept indefinitely, as the FAQ page's privacy notice states

Key features

What you can actually do with this tool.

Hashtag groups from one tag

Enter a hashtag that describes the post, such as #newyork, or choose one of 35 categories, and the app searches what the vendor calls a database of millions of hashtags for a related group. Groups are rated A to E, with A carrying the highest post counts.

Trending lists per network

Trending hashtags can be browsed network by network, from Instagram and TikTok through to LinkedIn, so a group can match where the post is going.

Collections and a keyboard

Favourite hashtags from search and trending lists can be saved into collections, and the App Store listing describes a Hashtag Expert keyboard for inserting them while typing.

Captions and posting times

The App Store listing adds AI captions and suggested posting times based on follower activity. Linking a Facebook or Instagram account is optional and adds personalised suggestions.

Frequently asked

Common questions about this tool, answered.

How much does Hashtag Expert cost?

The website publishes no price list and has no pricing page. The US App Store listing shows in-app purchase items, among them 'Hashtag Expert Premium Yearly' at $249.99 and at $89.99, 'Pro' at $4.99, $2.99 and $34.99, 'Hashtags Pro' at $9.99, $14.99 and $189.99, and 'Membership' at $5.99, without saying which are current or, apart from 'Yearly', what period each covers. These are the US App Store listing's figures; other countries' listings may differ.

How does the free trial work?

It lasts 3 days. The terms say billing details may be required to start it and that the subscription is charged automatically when it ends unless cancelled. For website sign-ups the FAQ says the charge comes only after the trial; for App Store downloads, Apple can charge the card before the trial ends.

What happens to my Instagram data?

The FAQ page's privacy notice says linked Instagram usernames and ids are kept indefinitely and can be erased on request, and the privacy policy says service providers may use personal information for advertising, marketing and analytics, which may count as a sale under California law. You keep the rights to content you post but grant a licence to use it on the service. The website footer, the terms of service and the App Store listing name different companies behind the service, so read the current terms before linking an account.
