Choose Fireflies when the transcript is not the destination. Its strongest argument is the breadth of what it writes to afterwards: a call can land in the CRM record, the applicant tracker and the team channel without anyone copying anything. Two things to settle first. The free plan does not meter transcription, it meters storage — 400 minutes for the entire team — so it is a trial surface rather than a small-team home. And the product bills on two separate meters, per seat and a monthly AI-credit allowance, and that second meter is what three separate accounts say caught them out.
Fireflies gets into the call, transcribes it and writes a summary. What happens after that is where the product actually differs. It is organised around delivery. Once a call is transcribed, its content is routed outward into more than a hundred documented destinations, sorted by the vendor into categories that describe the buyer rather than the technology: CRM, applicant tracking, dialers, storage, collaboration. That is the axis on which this product competes.
Capture happens two ways. A bot can join the meeting as a visible participant, or the Chrome extension can record from inside the browser without the bot appearing. Uploaded audio and video files go through the same pipeline, so an interview recorded on a phone is treated no differently from a Zoom call. Transcription covers more than 100 languages, and the product is reachable from a web app, a desktop app, Android and iOS.
The commercial design is the part that repays attention before you buy. Two meters run at once. The first is the seat: $10, $19 or $39 per seat per month on annual billing, with Pro and Business also available monthly at $18 and $29. The second is a monthly allowance of AI credits — 20 on Free and Pro, 30 on Business, 50 on Enterprise — which the assistants draw against. A team can sit comfortably inside its seat count and still run out of the thing it actually wanted.
The free plan is shaped for evaluation rather than for small-team use. Transcription itself is not capped, but stored audio is: 400 minutes across the entire team, against 8,000 minutes per seat on Pro and no cap from Business upward. AI summaries are described as limited on Free and unlimited on every paid plan. Reading those two lines together tells you what the free tier is for.
At the top end the product is sold against a procurement checklist. SOC 2 Type II and GDPR sit across the plan matrix; HIPAA compliance, SSO, SCIM, private storage, custom data retention, an audit-log API, a rules engine and a super-admin role are Enterprise capabilities, and Enterprise is sold on annual terms only.

One Reddit thread in r/AIAssisted asks directly what people make of Fireflies, and three separate accounts in it report the same thing: a charge they say they did not agree to. One itemises "18 bucks for pro + ... 'tokens' which i never subscribed to"; another, arriving later in the thread, says "I noticed a charge for something I didn't sign up for and it's impossible to contact customer service". Two of the three also could not reach support about it, and one moved their team elsewhere over that rather than over transcription quality. Three accounts in one thread is not a measurement of the customer base, and no individual billing claim here can be verified — but it maps onto something the pricing page does confirm, which is that Fireflies bills on two meters at once, a per-seat charge and a separate monthly AI-credit allowance.
What you can actually do with this tool.
More than 100 documented integrations, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Slack, Notion, Confluence, SharePoint, Greenhouse, Lever and BambooHR. This is the feature that decides whether the transcript changes anything or just accumulates.
The recorder can join the call as a participant, or the Chrome extension can capture it without the Fireflies bot appearing — useful when a visible recorder would change how a candidate or client speaks.
Covers multilingual teams without a separate tool, and uploaded audio and video files are transcribed on the same footing as live calls.
AskFred answers questions about past meetings; a Personal Assistant, an Email Assistant and Voice Agents sit above that on paid plans. These consume the monthly AI-credit allowance rather than the seat price.
The vendor names its controls rather than gesturing at them, and the Enterprise tier reads like a procurement checklist — healthcare compliance, federated identity, automated provisioning, isolated storage, a retention window you choose and audit logs you can query. If a security review gates your purchase, hand that list over.

Common questions about this tool, answered.
Probably not, and the limit that decides it is the storage cap rather than the transcription one. Transcription is uncapped on the free plan; storage is capped at 400 minutes for the whole team, and AI summaries are limited. Pro lifts storage to 8,000 minutes per seat and makes summaries unlimited.
$10 per seat per month for Pro and $19 for Business when billed annually, or $18 and $29 billed monthly. Enterprise is $39 per seat per month and is sold on annual terms only. Committing for a year is advertised as taking up to 44% off.
They are a monthly allowance separate from your seat, and it grows with the plan rather than with headcount — the overview above gives the figure for each tier. The assistant features draw against it. Three people in one Reddit thread describe being billed for consumption they had not accounted for, so it is worth checking which of your workflows spend credits before you scale seats.
Yes. The plan matrix documents recording through the Chrome extension without the Fireflies bot joining, alongside the normal bot-based capture for Zoom, Google Meet and Teams.
Partly on any plan, fully only at the top one. SOC 2 Type II and GDPR are carried across the whole range; the further controls — the healthcare standard, federated login, automated joiner-leaver provisioning, isolated storage, your own retention window and queryable audit logs — sit on Enterprise.
