Fast-read signals for fit, pricing, and trust.
For an ecommerce team that has to write or refresh descriptions and SEO fields across hundreds of SKUs, Describely turns a catalog import into copy written to your brand rules in bulk and pushes it back to the store. Cost follows the catalog: $0.75 a product on the website after 5 free, custom pricing above 500 SKUs, or monthly plans through the Shopify app. Settle the data-training question before uploading: the Terms allow training on user content, while the help centre says customer data does not train its AI.
A typical Describely run imports a catalog, audits it, enriches products that lack specifications, applies a content ruleset and generates the fields in bulk, then publishes to a connected store or exports to CSV or Excel. It is a browser app; Shopify merchants can also open it from its Shopify app, which only the store admin installs, with other teammates invited to sign in on the website. Output languages come from a published list rather than any language, which the pricing FAQ says includes Spanish, French and Dutch.
Website purchases are one-time charges with no subscription: a product credit costs $0.75 and must be activated within a year, and it buys unlimited generations and audits for that product for 30 days from its first job. Data enrichment and image processing need their own credits, and API use is billed separately at $0.20 per 1,000 tokens, which the help centre puts at 1,000 to 3,000 tokens for a typical product. Only account admins buy credits, manage the plan and manage users. The free start covers 5 products, which the help centre calls a free trial without giving a duration and the Shopify app FAQ calls a free-forever plan; once the free credits are used, features stop until you buy more. The Terms (last updated June 10, 2024) reserve the right to offer a 3-day trial of certain services, but neither the pricing page, the help centre's free-trial article nor the Shopify app FAQ applies one. Shopify-app subscriptions renew every 30 days through Shopify, refunds there are handled case by case, and under the Terms a cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid term.
The Terms say content created with Describely is intended for your commercial use and that Describely asserts no ownership of it; the pricing FAQ describes generated content as unique. The help centre's security article says data is encrypted at rest and in transit and that you can revoke access and request deletion at any time.

What you can actually do with this tool.
Titles, descriptions, bullet points, keywords, meta titles, meta descriptions and your own custom fields are generated across many products at once. Reusable content rules fix brand tone, words to avoid (a restricted list for Amazon is built in), output language and format.
For sparse products, Describely pulls specifications from the web and lets you approve, edit or reject them before copy is written. Enrichment uses its own credits, one run per product, and a job covers at most 250 products.
Each product is graded on how likely it is to surface in ChatGPT, Google and Gemini and on how ready it is to convert, so you can see which listings need new content first.
Native connectors cover Shopify (also as a Shopify app), WooCommerce, Squarespace, Wix and Akeneo; files and Google Sheets cover the rest, and an API handles product records, catalogs, rulesets and generation for other platforms. The Shopify connection reads and writes product content only, not customer or order data.
Product images can have backgrounds removed, be resized or be converted to PNG, JPEG, WebP or GIF, at one image credit per operation; AI image variants use several.
An agent inside Describely runs most app actions for you, and an MCP server lets Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf or VS Code run core catalog actions with a Describely API key.

On the website the first 5 products are free, then each product costs $0.75 as a one-time charge for up to 500 products, with data enrichment at $0.55 and image processing at $0.05 per credit; catalogs of 500+ SKUs get custom pricing. Through the Shopify app there is also a 50 Product Plan at $28 a month and a 250 Product Plan at $138 a month. Prices are in US dollars.
Unlimited content generations and audits for that product for 30 days after its first job. Enriching its data or editing its images takes separate credits, and API calls are billed in tokens.
Its official pages disagree. The Terms say Describely may use user content and data to train its AI and machine-learning systems; the help centre's security article says customer data is not used to train its AI.
The Terms say Describely asserts no ownership over what you create with it and that the content is intended for your commercial use.
