Fast-read signals for fit, pricing, and trust.
Regular document translation with glossaries, style rules and higher file limits than the Free version allows is where DeepL's paid plans fit, for an individual, translator or multilingual team. Translator plans do not include API access, which is sold as a separate plan, and refunds are limited to the free trial or the legal withdrawal window, so the 30-day trial on Individual or Team is the time to decide.
Text is typed or pasted, or a file dragged in, in the web app, the desktop or mobile apps, or a browser extension; DeepL for Chrome also works directly in Gmail, Google Docs and Google Slides. The mobile apps and the macOS and Windows apps are free downloads. DeepL's partner marketplace lists further apps and integrations.
The Pro plans are sold on annual or monthly billing, and the pricing page labels annual billing a 16% saving. The plan cards carry DeepL's Germany variant in euros, VAT included, with the annual-billed figures. Once the 30-day trial on Individual or Team ends, an annual plan is charged for the whole year in advance.
The minimum term is one month. A subscription must be ended at least one day before the next payment and then runs to the end of the period without credit for the remainder. The help centre limits refunds to cancellation during the trial or within the right of withdrawal, which the licence terms set at 14 days for consumers. Glossaries, saved translations and style rules are deleted 90 days after a subscription is deactivated. For Pro subscribers DeepL says texts are kept only as long as technically needed and never used to train its models, and it states SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 certification and GDPR adherence.

What you can actually do with this tool.
PDF, Word and PowerPoint files are dragged in and translated whole. File allowances scale by plan, from one 5 MB file a month on the Free version to 100 files of up to 100 MB on Business, and the help centre caps a Pro plan's Word or PowerPoint file at 1 million characters.
Formal or informal tone, glossaries and saved translations are on every plan in small numbers; Team and Business add shared style-rule lists and many more glossary entries so a team's terminology stays consistent.
The writing assistant corrects grammar, spelling and punctuation and rephrases text. Without the paid add-on it handles 1,500 characters at a time without an account and 2,000 for Pro users; Write Pro is a separate add-on at €6.99 per user/month billed annually (Germany variant, EUR, VAT included), not part of a Pro plan.
API Free translates 500,000 characters a month at no charge, API Developer is a one-off 1,000,000 characters, API Growth is capped at 50 million characters and 300 hours of speech to text a month, and API Pro is sold on monthly billing only. Word, PowerPoint and Excel files count as at least 50,000 characters each.

Common questions about this tool, answered.
DeepL sells Individual, Team and Business on monthly billing as well as annual, but the euro figures in the plan cards are the annual-billed ones from DeepL's Germany variant. Take the monthly price from DeepL's pricing page in your own region rather than working it back from the 16% label.
DeepL's home page and its pricing page's structured data print different headline figures. For a specific language, look at the named list on the home page or, for the API, the language list in the developer documentation.
Yes. Under the licence terms the free trial becomes a paid subscription to the selected plan unless it is terminated, and the help centre says terminating during the trial keeps access to the end of the trial at no cost. Anyone who has had a DeepL trial before is not eligible again.
